Robert and I loaded up the bikes this morning and headed south for some hilly riding in Brown County State Park. On the way, we stopped for some diner grub at Waffle House. The weather was perfect and the ride was good. We didn’t do the course we had planned as we took a wrong turn, missed another, and got killed on a few hills. I admit I even had to walk a few inclines. Maybe I should keep training and attempt the Hilly Hundred?
My sister, Tina, is celebrating her birthday today. We did also celebrate it Saturday at Santorini’s. “Opa!” was heard many times. Of course she enjoyed her Greek food.

These are three random items to discuss in the rest of my post. Since I last posted, I’ve cycled and run in the lovely weather Indiana has been experiencing. Swimming has been less convenient due to IHSAA, NCAA, and USA Swimming meets at IUPUI. Robert and I were able to enjoy a part of the latter meet. Celeb sightings of Michael Phelps were made.

I also played the MegaMillions for the first time. Sadly, I did not win the 640 million dollar jackpot. Maybe next time?
The las remaining random item is a loyalty card from a new sandwich shop, Which Wich. It’s located at University and Tenth within a new shopping/apartment complex. The food was good but the ordering process was innovative. You grab a bag of the sandwich type you want. You the check all the options you want. Then your custom sandwich is placed in the bag. Of course, I got the healthy salad option!
And so are my allergies. Who decided to plant robust, beautiful trees on each corner? Though my training is becoming more exciting with the nice weather. I hope to have more successful workouts this month than last.
Regarding other aspects of my life, it’s been rather normal. Work is good. I’m still sorting through Granny’s house and hope to start renting this summer. I did finally buy an iPad. It’s a nice device and I can read comics whenever I want. The camera is nice. Dipstick approves.
This morning I took my Garmin out for a swim. Capturing swim metric is one of the top reasons I purchased the watch. Aside from forgetting my trunks, the swim went well. I remembered to lap at the end of each set so my rest intervals were recorded. The watch only had one issue, kick intervals. This morning I had two kicks of 600. The watch did not record my “turns.” of the first interval, only 25 meters registered of 200. On the second sent of 400, I did 150 meters with none recorded and started kick drills without the board. The 910XT was more responsive and sensed the turns. I’ve included a picture of my workout summer post-swim. Sorry, no cool DCRainmaker water shots.
I’m not overly impressed with Garmin Connect analysis or the stroke detection. It still a vast improvement over me trying to keep track of everything and record it later. I get workout brain.
